Our Story

Started from Frustration, Built on Integrity

In 2014, co-founders Marcus Chen and Rebecca Holloway had spent years watching the solar industry overpromise and underdeliver. Customers were sold oversized systems they didn't need, installed by undertrained crews who disappeared the moment the cheque cleared.

They knew it could be different. Marcus brought 15 years of electrical engineering experience; Rebecca had managed large-scale renewable projects across Southeast Asia. Together, they founded hazy-canopy with a simple principle: design systems that genuinely match what each customer needs, then install them properly.

That approach resonated. Word spread through Brisbane suburbs, then across Queensland, and eventually down the eastern seaboard. Today we operate from three offices, but every system design still gets reviewed by our founding engineers before installation begins.

Our Commitment

Environmental Responsibility

We don't just install renewable energy systems—we live the values we promote. Our Melbourne headquarters runs entirely on solar power with battery backup. We've eliminated single-use plastics from our operations and offset the carbon footprint of our installation vehicles.

Beyond our own footprint, we actively work to make sustainable energy accessible. Our partnership with community housing organisations has brought solar to over 200 social housing properties, reducing energy poverty for vulnerable Australians.

Every system we install represents tonnes of CO2 that won't enter the atmosphere. Since 2014, our installations have collectively prevented over 180,000 tonnes of carbon emissions—equivalent to taking 40,000 cars off the road permanently.
